[Summary] How Bear Grylls got Obama to eat half-chewed salmon from a bear on tonight's 'Running Wild'

Bear Grylls, the host of Grylls' show "Running Wild" on NBC, had his adventure in Alaska with US President Barack Obama. As a fan of the show, Obama approached the show and had tried many different things, including devouring salmon that was half-eaten by a bear, drinking tea made from berries found earlier in the adventure, even drinking his own urine for hydration. After drinking his own urine in drawing the line, Obama said that he supposed that he won't do it again if the alternative was death. he said, it’s not something he’d make a habit of, and he probably wouldn’t do it just for a TV show. The purpose that Obama joined the British adventurer is to take a close look at climate change in Alaska. And he's also the first politician to join NBC series. See the selfie Obama and Grylls took during their Alaska adventure below:

[TableTopic] There is something extraordinary happening in the world

[TableTopic]

There is something extraordinary happening in the world

Summary

The article, "There is something extraordinary happening in the world", points out 8 reasons that lead the world to change.
1. No one can stand the employment model any longer
Because of bad economy, more and more people are willing to take the risk of creating new company. There are a yell of despair inside workers heart.
2. The entrepreneurship model is also changing
At the beginning, the startup begins from garages and jump into the vortex of entrepreneurship model, which is finding an investor and get funded. However, after funded, the startups may bring in people not in agreement with the startup's purpose, but all about money. The financial end becomes the main driver of the business.
3. The rise of collaboration
The direction of collaborating, sharing, helping, and togetherness, is being implemented, such as the open source concept in computer science.
4. We are finally figuring out what the internet is.
Internet is taking down the big media's control. Lots of things show true revolutions that used internet, such as Arab Spring and ISIS video advertisement.
5. The fall of exaggerated consumerism
In the past, we want new car, latest iPhone, the top brands and so on. But now, we are going against the crowd, to buy fewer things, and to enjoy slow life.
6. Healthy and organic eating
In the past, we were crazy to eat anything but it only need to taste good. Now, we want a healthy and organic eating style. Therefore, the small farmer is getting back and reshapes the whole market.
7. The awakening of spirituality
More and more spirituality groups grow. The people want to understand how life operates, and what happens after death.
8. Unschooling trends
A lot of people rethink about the teaching model. Who chose the classes we have to take? Why should kids follow a certain set of rules? The thought of unschooling, hackschooling, and homeschooling is growing.

[TableTopic] Douglas McGregor's XY Theory

[TableTopic]

Douglas McGregor's XY Theory

Summary
This article introduce three theories of managment, Douglas McGregor's XY Theory, and William Ouchi's Theory Z.

In theory X, the average person dislikes work, so most people must be forced with threat of punishment to work. Besides, they perfer to be directed and avoid responsibility. Therefore, the characteristics of the x theory manager are results-driven and deadline-driven, unconcerned about staff welfare, or morale, poor listener and so on. It's hard to work with X theory boss, but it still has ways to manage these kind of boss. For example, if an X theory boss tells you how to do things in ways that are not comfortable or right for you, then don't question the process, simply confirm the end-result that is required, and check that it's okay to 'streamline the process' or 'get things done more efficiently' if the chance arises - they'll normally agree to this, which effectively gives you control over the 'how', provided you the delivery of 'what' and 'when'.

In theory Y, people will apply self-control and self-direction in pursuit of organisational objectives. They usually accept and often seek responsibility.
In the team, the capacity to use a high degree of imagination, ingenuity and creativity in solving organisational problems is widely, not narrowly, distributed in the population.

The theory Z advocates a combination of all that's best about theory Y and modern Japanese management, which places a large amount of freedom and trust with workers, and assumes that workers have a strong loyalty and interest in team-working and the organisation. Although it's a good idea, it lacks the simple elegance of Mcgregor's model, so few managers use it.

[Summary] 9 things you're doing that make people dislike you immediately

[Summary]9 things you're doing that make people dislike you immediately
Shana Lebowitz / Reporter, Strategy

Have you ever face the situations of your friend being unfriendly suddenly or you can feel that they dislike you apparently even if you think that you were close friends before? The items bellow may give you the answer. This article rounded up some of the most common social turn-offs online and in person, such as :
1.     Sharing too many photos on Facebook :
This is because people, other than very close friends and relatives, don't seem to relate well to those who constantly share photos of themselves
2.     Having too many or too few Facebook friends:
Results showed that the "sweet spot" for likability was about 300 friends. If you have too many friends may appear to be focusing too much on Facebook, friending out of desperation rather than popularity.
3.     Disclosing something extremely personal early on in a relationship:
disclosing something too intimate while you're still getting to know someone can make you seem insecure and decrease your likability. The key is simply sharing details about your hobbies and your favorite childhood memories can make you seem warmer and more likable.
4.     Asking someone questions without talking about yourself at all:
self-disclosure has to be mutual. People generally like you less if you don’t reciprocate when they disclose something intimate.
5.     Posting a close-up profile photo:
Research suggests that faces photographed from just 45 centimeters — about 1.5 feet — away are considered less trustworthy, attractive, and competent than faces photographed from 135 centimeters, about 4.5 feet, away.
6.     Hiding your emotions:
Research suggests that letting your real feelings come through is a better strategy for getting people to like you than bottling it all up.
7.     Acting too nice:
Acting nice might make you looked unselfish, but it also make teammates or coworkers look bad or suspected that you had ulterior motives occasionally.
8.     Humblebragging:
Independent research assistants said they'd be more likely to hire the participants who were honest, and found them significantly more likable.
Another alternative is to talk about weaknesses that don't directly relate to the job — for example, a fear of public speaking if you're applying for a writing position.
9.     Getting too nervous:
Experiment Results showed that participants rated the women lower on all measures, like how competent, confident, and trustworthy they seemed, when they smelled the stress-induced sweat. When they smelled the stress sweat that had been covered up with antiperspirant, they rated the women more positively.

Read on and see which ones you've been guilty of. In fact, most of them don't require much effort.
