My Summary:
The author, Ian Buruma's article "The end of 1945" talks about three parts of 1945 consensus, social and economic equality, international solidarity, and revolution of native freedom in Asia, and how they transformed in the future.
First, people sought a more equal, peaceful, and safer world, so the concept of social-democratic welfare went through all over Western Europe. Then the places also has revolutions led by leftists, but they weren't successful without Western allies' and Soviet Union’s support.
Second, lots of prominent people believe that only a world government would be able to ensure global peace, but the dream quickly faded when the Cold War divided the world into two parts.
Third, the native people in Asia had no desire to be ruled by western countries. They wanted their freedom and voiced frequently in UN. Besides, the author mentions that post-war social-democratic welfare state is being eroded more and more today because of the growing of Neoliberals, who said that social-democratic welfare makes people soft and dependent, and we have to remember the history above and do well in the future.
